Harmony Fountain

Fountains are known for their holistic value.  The passage of water has been a staple of harmony in various cultures throughout human history.  Why is running water so important to us that we feel at peace by a calming brook?  The answer is quite simple.  Water is such a large part of our health and comfort that when we are near a clean source of water, and that means running water in nature as still water gets murky and unpalatable, we feel safe and at peace with the natural world.
That drive to be near running water is a genetic instinct that is bred from our primitive understanding of the world.  Now we can use this understanding and bring it close to home in a way that will benefit our lives on a daily basis.  Indoor fountains bring this feeling of oneness into our lives and into our homes.

Peterhof

Peterhof, located in St. Petersburg is one of the most beautiful fountains ever erected.  It is located in the Petrodvortsovy District municipal town within the city.  The name is Dutch for Peter’s court.  The fountain is part of a palace located in St. Petersburg.  And if there was any word that would best describe it, palatial would be a close enough word.  An open pool, boasting of an enormous fountain structure sits at court in front of the palace and from their opens into a narrow canal that continues into a forest of evergreen trees.  St. Petersburg is none for its mixture of nature and extraordinary architecture and Peterhof does not disappoint.  Outdoor water fountains are a beautiful addition to any home.

Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain History

buckingham-2.jpgBuckingham Water Fountain is constructed from Georgia pink marble, and is one of Chicago’s most popular attractions, and is located at Columbus Drive in Grant Park. The Chicago Buckingham Water Fountain is the largest fountain in the world. One of the exciting features of the Buckingham Fountain is the 133 jets that spray 14,000 gallons of water per minute, as high as 135 feet in the sky. The entire display for the Chicago Buckingham Fountain is computer controlled, which includes the illuminating colored light shows that takes place nightly from 9pm to 11pm. Music was added in 1999 to the Buckingham Fountain in order to add a bit more appeal to the colored show. In the summer time, people enjoy eating their lunch by the Buckingham Memoriam Fountain. Now, because of the amount damage that was done to the stone and concrete stairs, skateboarders, in-line skaters are banned from the area. White Christmas lights illuminate Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain during the winter time.

The history of Buckingham Fountain  may be of interest to anyone who has an eye for architecture. In 1927 Kate Buckingham dedicated Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain to the people of Chicago in memory of her late brother, Clarence. In that time, she made sure a $300,000 trust fund was established to ensure that the Chicago’s tax payers would never have to cover all of the repair and up keep costs for the Buckingham Memoriam Fountain. The Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain was dedicated on August 26, 1927. Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain is the Route 66 starting point for the highway that ran to Los Angeles.

The Buckingham fountain history is also intricately tied in with the history of Chicago. It is the work of architect, and planner Edward H. Bennett, who in 1909 was a significant figure in the creation, and execution of the Plan of Chicago. This plan was instrumental in encouraging the creation of lakefront amenities such as the Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain, and Bennett’s other plans included the amazing Michigan Avenue Bridge.

When you visit Grant Park, The Navy Pier, or the Lincoln Park Zoo, and the other exciting Chicago attractions, be sure you check out, and spend some time relaxing by the brilliant Buckingham water Fountain.

The history of Italy’s Tivoli water fountain

villa-d-este-011.jpgThe history of the Villa d’Este, masterpiece of the Italian Garden, is included in the world heritage list of Unesco. With its impressive concentration for water fountains, nymphs, grottoes, plays of water, and music entertainment, it constitutes a much replicated model in the mannerist, and baroque styles for European gardens.

The garden is considered within the larger and altogether extraordinary context of Tivoli with its landscape, art and history which includes the ruins of the ancient villas such as Villa Adriana, as well as an area rich in caves and waterfalls feathering the battle between running water and solid stone. The imposing designs and the series of terraces above one another brings to mind the hanging gardens of Babylon, one of the wonders of the ancient world and culture. The addition of the water aqueduct tunneling beneath the city reveals the engineering skills of the Romans.

Health Benefits and Air Quality

Water FountainsAn independent based manufacturing company, conducted a study to see if any health benefits would result from having an indoor water fountain. The study reviles  surprising results. that shows water fountains can cleaning the air better than most air purifiers. This study also indicates that water fountains not only remove dust they also neutralize bacteria and potential viruses in the air, providing better air quality.

Dr. Joe Boatman, of Quality Environmental Services has conducted a study, by putting a three foot by seven foot water fountain in about a 2700 square foot room, and started pumping about 400 cubic feet per minute of air into the area at several times over the course of 30 days. The results have concluded that an indoor water fountain can remove as much impurities as well as, some of the best air purifying systems available today, such as a hepa  air purifiers.

Dr. Joe Boatman also conducted another study, by testing three different water fountains to determine if the water reservoirs remained free of mold and bacteria during these tests. The study compared the ability of saniguard an anti-microbial coating combined with an ultraviolet light sterilization systems inside three water fountains tanks, to effectively purify the water. The water fountains with the UV light and the anti-microbial coatings proved to be very effective. These tests not only controlled the bacteria contamination but also prevented the formation of molds and yeast , which is  a growing concern to the consumers of water fountains.

Many years of scientific research proves that sounds and the site of falling water in the environment will increase creative productivity, reduce stress, and accelerate healing processes. Also in addition to these benefits, water fountains can purify the air and control bacteria levels. Now it’s possible to have a soothing, creative atmosphere while purifying the air at the same time, the best of both worlds.

Benefits of water fountains!

Benefits of water fountains!

Water fountains have become very popular over the last ten years and everyday people are realizing the benefits a water fountain do have. Here are a few benefits below!

Aromatherapy!

Aromatherapy has many  benefits! Inhaling the appropriate fragrance can reduce stress, lift a depression, hasten a good night’s sleep, soothe your soul, or give you more energy! Aromatherapy is already helping office workers stay alert while doing repetitive mental tasks. And hospitals are experimenting with using aromatherapy to help patients relax so that other healing modalities can do their job’s. If you are looking for a soothing treatment in reducing stress and nervousness, then aromatherapy is the solution! There is considerable evidence that aromatherapy also works wonders for behavior, colds, women’s problems (like Premenstrual Stress), and sexual responses! This is because there is a profound connection with the sense of smell and our minds.

Stress Relief and Relaxation!

Everybody has a little stress in their life and could use some stress relief and relaxation at the end of the day. With the soothing sounds of flowing water your water fountain will bring stress relief and relaxation into your environment. Water fountains are excellent for your favorite room in your home, office, in your back yard, or garden. Many fountains offer adjustable pumps so you can adjust the flow to suet your likes and needs. Some fountains are lighted, and give a nice soothing glow that’s pleasing to the eye.

Drown noise with Soothing Sounds !

You will be amazed at how even a soft flowing water sound can drown out other sounds around you such as, cars going buy, people talking in the next room, dogs barking at night, and kids playing in the other room. The sound of flowing water can make you feel secluded, relaxed, and calm after a long hard work day.

Natural Humidifier!

Water fountains act as natural humidifiers by adding moisture to a dry environment. Indoor fountains will humidify the air while you enjoy the soothing sounds of running water. Water fountains can also help your indoor plants by adding extra humidity that is lost when the heat or air conditioning units are in use. Home humidifiers can get  lime, mold, and mildew build up that’s hard to clean, where fountains with moving water will not have that hard build up and are easy to clean, and maintain. Portable humidifiers are load, noisy, ugly, and need to be cleaned every few weeks. Furnace humidifiers are expensive to install, or replace, and are also hard to clean, and maintain.

Negative Ions!

Water fountains can improve the air quality in your home with negative ions, reducing the air pollution. Dust is attracted by the negative ions so your water fountain is actively working to purify the air quality. The continuous moving water in a water fountain will not only relax you with its water sounds, but will also rejuvenate you with negative ions.

Indoor and Outdoor Decor!

Water fountains add beauty to your environment. Whether it is a large garden, floor, wall hanging, custom water fountain, or a smaller table top water fountain, or ocean water fountain you are decorating and showing your style, and taste. A water fountain is a piece of art, and can become a conversational centerpiece for your home. Interior Designers are using wall water fountains, and floor fountains as a focal point in their decorating, and designs. Landscape Designers also use outdoor water fountains and water falls as a focal point, and will accent your yard, or garden. Outdoor water fountains also can attract birds.
